Influencer of the Week – Sudipto De #InfluencerSpeaks
As part of the #InfluencerSpeaks series, we bring you the interviews with top influencers across India. This week, we are featuring Sudipto De, a social media influencer. Here’s the transcript of his interview:
Please tell us a bit about yourself and your blog/online presence
I am a final year surgical resident and also the Editor in Chief of the blog Salt and Sandals. Salt and Sandals brings together people from all walks of life whose primary love is writing. Writing acts as a stress buster from the daily day jobs we lead.
How did you get started online? How has the journey been?
I started the blog about a year ago with my partner Amogh Tiwari in Delhi NCR. Now we have ten members including a team in Mumbai. The journey has been almost magical; it has truly been the best learning experience for us. We have learnt about cuisines, wines, travelling to exotic locations and trends in fashion.
What type of content do you create?
Our three major parallels include food, travel and fashion. We host wide range of content from food experiences, stays in hotels, partnering with fashion brands along with a small section on our experience with liquors.
Tell us something about the most interesting projects you have engaged with.
Roaming around hotels in the oddest of hours gave us a very beautiful insight into the world of hospitality. The second most interesting part is actually shooting for the fashion brands. Coming from a very studious childhood, posing in front of the camera was a riot of laughter.
Which brands have you associated with in the past?
We have been associated with major brands like JW Marriott, Accor, FRHI, Hyatt, The Leela Group, IHG, Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group in the hospitality sector while we have been associated with major fashion brands like Myntra, Monte Carlo, Mohawk, Spawake, Innisfree amongst others.
Where do you see opportunities and challenges in being an online Influencer?
Opportunities are a plenty in the world today as everything is getting focused on digital media. The most important challenge still remains, raising an army of loyal followers. This will only happen when you connect with them and give them the kind of content they will want to read.
Any thoughts or tips to share with your fellow Bloggers and Influencers?
My biggest thought would be to retain your humility. As a blogger, you might have got the pen. But as Khushwant Singh said “We have still not invented a condom for the pen.” One needs to remember that we still need to survive among humans. So lose the ego and be nice.
