Influencer of the Week – Tejas Krishna #InfluencerSpeaks
As part of the #InfluencerSpeaks series, we bring you the interviews with top influencers across India. This week, we are featuring Tejas Krishna, a Twitter & social media influencer. Here’s the transcript of his interview:
Please tell us a bit about yourself and your blog/online presence
I work for a renowned marketing communications agency and apart from work I love exploring restaurant and lounges. I am passionate about food, tech and social media and share my experiences on my blog. Rest of it is well explained on my twitter bio: loves social and digital media, is a community builder, content creator and they call him ‘The Social Guy’.
How did you get started online? How has the journey been?
Content and food has been in me since long. During initial days of my career I used to write blogs on social media & technology as a part of my job function. I started my own blog and social hangouts, twitter chats and some SEO have been the key elements in growing my online presence. The journey has been full of learning’s from understanding the tech behind, widgets, blog customization, search optimization, building my online community, and most important keeping them engaged. Each day is exciting and full of new things and that’s what I love about it.
What type of content do you create?
Text mostly, but I don’t restrict myself and have done videos, infographics, vines and more.
Tell us something about the most interesting projects you have engaged with.
We worked on an outreach campaign for a large sports brand and it was really one of its kind and nicely phased out. It had the correct hooks and platform mix, was well-structured and has a good impact. We created a witty look-back video within two hours for one of our clients, who are into marketing consultancy and host large seminars & talk sessions. We captured video clips and images during the event, created a video out of it and broadcasted it during the end, everyone just loved it.
Which brands have you associated with in the past?
Adidas, Flipkart, Skullcandy, Google, Hard Rock Café, ITC Hotels are some.
Where do you see opportunities and challenges in being an online Influencer?
The market is growing really fast and there’s a lot for everyone, brands are more open to experiment and invest in paid online advertising, influencer marketing than they were 6 months back. The only challenge I sometimes feel as an influencer is that brands sometimes muddle influencer marketing as a tool to direct lead generation. It’s not that it cannot happen, it’s that there are a lot of factors that come to play together to create a great brand which people love buying from.
Any thoughts or tips to share with your fellow Bloggers and Influencers?
Keep it narrow, identify one or two things that you love the most and talk about that. Identify communities and get into discussions, take up campaigns that resonate with your interests and your audience. It’s all about building great relationship’s and trust with your audience as well as your client so be genuine and you will do great.
